Lady Eagles Win Exciting game
The Montague Lady Eagles battled their way to a hard-fought district win Monday night, December 15, taking down the Saint Jo Lady Panthers 32–30 to remain undefeated at 5–0 in district play heading into Christmas break. The game was a defensive showdown from start to finish, with both teams fighting for every possession. Montague stayed composed under pressure and made the plays that mattered most in the closing moments. Joanna Parr led the Lady Eagles with an efficient performance, going 4-of-5 from the field and 1-of-1 from the free-throw line. She finished with 8 total rebounds and 2 steals, providing steady leadership on both ends of the court. Sage Keck also played a major role, shooting 4-of-9 from the floor while adding 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and an impressive 5 steals. Kynzlea Rios contributed across the stat sheet with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals, while Lily Gray added strong effort off the boards with 4 rebounds, along with 1 steal and 1 assist. Madison Fomby and Kenzi McEwen stepped up in a crucial stretch of the game when foul trouble tested the lineup, delivering key minutes and helping keep the Lady Eagles steady.
The defining moment came late in the fourth quarter when Cayde Harris knocked down 1 of her three-point attempts with just 40 seconds remaining to give Montague the lead. Harris also added 3 steals and 3 rebounds in the winning effort.
