Football Ends Winning Season

The Montague football team closed out their season last Thursday night in Gainesville where they took on the St. Mary’s Mustangs for the second time in the last 2 weeks. After a decisive win in the first matchup, the Eagles hoped to have a repeat performance and close out the year with a win. To start the game, the Eagles received the ball and quickly scored on their second play from scrimmage. After kicking the ball back to Mustangs, Montague was able to force a quick turnover on downs. After regaining possession, they again scored quickly in just 3 plays. The Eagles two early scores gave them strong momentum going forward and into halftime where they led the Mustangs 41-13. In the second half, the Eagles continued their strong play getting stops on defense and spreading the ball around offensively. In a full team effort, the Eagles ended up winning the game by a final score of 61-20. Montague finished the season with a 5-2 record with wins against Victory Christian, Wichita Christian twice, and St. Mary’s twice. Congratulations to the eighth grade for a great last football season at Montague!
