Keck Wins District Title, Newland Runner-Up as Eagles Teams Both Finish 2nd at District

The Montague Eagles cross country teams turned in an outstanding performance at the district meet this week, with both the boys and girls finishing 2nd overall in the team standings.

On the girls’ side, Sage Keck dominated the course to claim 1st place with a time of 12:40, earning the title of District ChampionKenzi McEwen also finished strong in 4th place (15:07), helping lead the Lady Eagles to their 2nd-place team finishJoanna Parr came in 18th (18:45), followed by Courtney Bobbitt, 22nd (19:38); and Madison Fomby, 33rd (23:01) in a solid overall team effort.

In the boys’ division, Levi Newland battled to the wire, taking 2nd place by just half a second (11:56) to earn the title of District Runner-Up. The Eagles ran tightly together, with Caiden Young, 5th (13:40); Aiden Chavez, 7th (13:47); Cason Harris, 12th (14:25); Jerry Bonilla, 16th (15:15); and Cutter Garrett, 19th (15:36) — all finishing in the top 20. Their strong team performance secured 2nd place overall, finishing just two points behind the first-place team.

It was a tremendous day for the Montague Eagles, highlighted by Keck’s district championship, Newland’s runner-up finish, and both teams’ podium placements. The Eagles’ hard work and consistency throughout the season paid off in a memorable district performance.
