Lady Eagles Win Against Christ Academy, Football Avenges Loss, Gets First Win

The Montague Lady Eagles were victorious in 2 matches as they hosted Christ Academy on Monday night. The blue team played first and won 25-9, 25-21. Maddyn Bowles stepped in to serve up 7 aces on 90% serving, Avery Reed had 3 aces to go with 3 kills, Maddie Travis served up 3 aces while Lily Hamilton had an ace and 3 kills. The blue team then took the court for a 25-15, 25-8 win. Outstanding stats from this 2 set match: Emma Read 3 aces on 100% serving, 5 digs, 8 kills, 3 assists, Raylea Bowles 4 digs, 5 kills, Paige Davis 2 aces, 4 digs, 6 kills, Maddyn Bowles 2 aces, 6 digs, 15 assists, Laura Hudson 2 aces, 4 kills, Avaree Woodyard 3 aces, 4 assists.

Montague will host Bowie On October 13th for their pink out game beginning at 4:00 for 2 matches with the white team only.

 

The Montague football team traveled to St. Mary’s last Thursday to take on the Mustangs for the second time this season. In their first matchup, the Eagles fell to St. Mary’s in double overtime by a score of 32-26. Following the early season loss the Eagles were ready for the rematch and came ready to play. The Eagles got off to a quick start, scoring two touchdowns on their first two drives and took an early lead 14-0. After the scores, St. Mary’s answered with a touchdown drive of their own, but the conversion failed and made the score 14-6. Montague then put an exclamation point on the first half with another touchdown and successful conversion making the score 21-6 at the half. The Eagles got the ball to start the second half and didn’t waste any time getting back on the scoreboard. On the second play of the drive, the Eagles scored on a long run to extend their lead. Montague then got a stop defensively before scoring again, and after a strong second half would cruise to a win by a final score of 42-12. Cooper Johnson scored 5 touchdowns for the Eagles in the win and Grant Hamilton added a touchdown as well. Following the win the Eagles will travel to St. Jo this Thursday to take on the Panthers.
