Montague ISD Celebrates Junior High Achievements and Honors Teachers of the Year

At the Montague ISD Junior High Awards Banquet, the district proudly named Jonathan David as the Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2024–2025 school year. Mr. David teaches 3rd–5th grade math and 4th grade social studies. He has dedicated 23 years to education and is currently in his second year at MISD.

Karla Murphey was honored as the Secondary Teacher of the Year. Ms. Murphey teaches junior high ELAR and has 38 years of teaching experience, with the last two at MISD. Both awards were voted on by fellow staff members in recognition of excellence in teaching.

Montague ISD also celebrated the accomplishments of teachers who earned a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designation. This year’s recipients included:
Amanda Rhoades, Jesse Romine, Staley and Lila Keck, Denise Bell, Shannon Ward, Patty Richardson, Julia Davis, Emily Davis, Kristi Eldred, Jonathan David, Michael Healer, and Karla Murphey. Collectively, these outstanding educators were awarded $258,060 in performance-based bonuses.

The evening also honored the academic achievements of junior high students, highlighted by Valedictorian Garren Stallcup and Salutatorian Jaymes Migl.
