Boys and Girls Open Season in Dominating Fashion at Home

Montague opened their season up Thursday night in dominating fashion with 2 wins over Midway at home. The girls played first and won behind the hot hands of Paige Davis 39-7. Davis opened up her 8th grade year with a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. 7th grader Maddyn Bowles also had an outstanding game contributing 8 points, 7 steals, and 4 assists. Jaelyn Rodriguez came off the bench for 4 points and Maddie Travis scored a bucket to go with 4 rebounds.

The boy's team played next and defeated Midway 52-17. Tenacious defense and unselfish ball movement led the Eagles to their first victory of the season. It was an all around team effort with great performances from Zayden McCullar (23 points, 3 assists), Levi Newland (9 points, 1 steal, 1 assist) and Ryan Newman (7 points, 4 steals). Other players who got in the scorebook: Leevi Brown 5 points, Brazos Jones 4 points, Aiden Chavez 2 points and Koloa Teulilo 2 points.

Montague will travel to Forestburg on Monday, November 13th beginning at 6:00 PM with the girls followed by the boys. The boy's B team will play a quarter at halftime of the boy's game.
