Football Double Overtime Loss, Lady Eagles Win
The Lady Eagles hosted Wichita Christian Monday night in volleyball action. Montague White played first and was victorious in 2 sets 25-12, 25,15. Montague White moves to 5-2 on the season that has been a rebuilding year after losing a big group of 8th graders. Outstanding stats from the 2 set game: Emma Read 7 aces, 4 digs, Raylea Bowles 6 digs, Paige Davis 7 aces, 9 digs, 5 kills, Maddyn Bowles 3 aces, 7 assists, 3 digs, Laura Hudson 6 aces. Montague Blue won in 2 sets also 25-13, 25-19. They move to 5-1 on the season. Outstanding stats: Lily Hamilton 2 aces, Maddie Travis 3 aces, Jaelyn Rodriguez 2 aces, 2 kills, Gentry Gray 7 aces. Montague will host Prairie Valley Monday night the 26th.
Last Thursday, the Montague football team traveled to Gainesville to take on St. Mary’s. After a nice start, the Eagles led at halftime by a score of 13-6. The Eagles extended their lead in the third quarter to 13 points before St. Mary’s shifted the momentum with a nice touchdown drive of their own. After a late score by St. Mary’s, they were able to tie the score at the end of regulation before winning in double overtime by a score of 32-26. Brooks Gray scored 3 touchdowns and Grant Hamilton scored 1 in the loss for the eagles. Montague will travel to Wichita Falls Thursday to take on the Stars of Wichita Christian.
