Lady Eagles Win 2nd in Tournament

The Montague Lady Eagles suffered their first loss of the season to an undefeated Muenster team in the Nortex Communications Cooke County Shootout Saturday. Playing in the 8th grade division despite having 6th and 7th graders on the team, the Lady Eagles downed Era first 46-7, then Lindsay 26-1, before falling to Muenster 27-19 in the championship game. The game was intense with a half-time score of 12-10 in favor of Muenster. The 3rd quarter proved to be the winning quarter as the Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Eagles 11-3. Montague played an awesome defensive game taking 6 charges, but could not find the basket in the 2nd half. Outstanding stats for the 3 games for the Lady Eagles: Paige Davis 24 points, 8 assists, 14 rebounds, 1 charge, Aubree Kleinhans 21 points, 4 assists, 13 rebounds, 10 steals, Bayler Smith 14 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds, 5 charges, 13 steals, Emma Read 13 points, 7 rebounds, Chloe Broussard 6 points, Ava Johnson 5 points, Tinley Cable 4 points, 1 charge, Brylie Hager 4 points, 4 assists, 2 charges.
