Montague hosted their annual 8th grade night Monday night as they hosted Saint Jo. The boy's "B" team played first and fought hard but lost by a score of 17-3. It may not have been the results the boys had wanted, but the highlight of the night was when 8th Grader, William Henley, knocked down a 3-pointer in the second half to cap off his tenure as a Montague Eagle. All other Eagles contributed and left everything out on the court when the final buzzer went off.
The girls played next with Montague dominating from the opening tip off. Every Lady Eagle contributed in scoring in the 68-8 win over the Lady Panthers. Paige Davis ended her career as a Lady Eagle with 25 points, 6 steals and a personal record of 10 assists. Maddyn Bowles scored 13 points to go with a personal record of 9 steals while adding 4 rebounds. Lynlee Coffman scored 13 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Jaelyn Rodiguez scored 8 points to go with a personal record of 10 rebounds while Maddie Travis scored 5 points. Trinity Hudson and Lily Gray each had a basket to contribute to the win. The Lady Eagles end their season with a 12-3 record.
Montague boys battled in a game that went back and forth all night, but fell short to Saint Jo by a score of 36-47. Top players included Zayden McCullar (9 points 3 steals, 4 assists), Kage Arnett (9 points, 2 rebounds), Leevi Brown (8 points, 4 steals, 4 rebounds), Levi Newland (6 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists), and Koloa Teulilo and Aiden Chavez both with 2 points and 3 rebounds each. This was the final Montague game for 8th grader Ryan Newman and we want to wish the best of luck to a student of ours who played all 3 years on the basketball team representing what it means to be an Eagle!
Montague will attend their first track meet on February 21st at Alvord.
