Girls Win, Boys Lose in Season Opener
Montague hosted Prairie Valley for their season opener Monday night in basketball action. On the girl's side Montague won 66-2 and Prairie Valley won the boy's game 63-22.
Prairie Valley went to 4 girls in the 2nd quarter so Montague pulled a girl as well moving to finish the game 4 v 4. Every player on Montague's team scored as the younger players got a lot of playing time. Emma Read led in scoring with 20 points on 89% shooting, contributing 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals too. Paige Davis had 15 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals, Raylea Bowles had 6 points to go with 3 assists and 5 steals, Maddyn Bowles had 6 points, 6 steals, Avery Reed scored 4 points to go with 4 assists and 5 rebounds, Maddie Travis scored 4 points, Lynlee Coffman had 3 points, 4 rebounds, Trinity Hudson 4 points, Darlee Allen 2 points, 3 steals and Rileigh Smith scored a basket too.
Ryan Newman led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points, Lane Smith and Cooper Johnson contributed 4 points and Brooks Gray scored 2 points as the Eagles look to rebuild after losing the majority of the team to 8th grade graduation.
Montague will host Bellevue Monday night beginning at 6 PM.
