The Montague Lady Eagles walked away with their 8th win of the season as they hosted Midway Monday night in their last game before Christmas break. The Lady Eagles dominated from tip off and won 54-4. 3 players were in double figures as Paige Davis had 16 points to go with 3 assists, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks, Aubree Kleinhans had 12 points to go with 5 rebounds and 5 steals, while Brylie Hager had 11 points, 8 steals and took 2 charges. Chloe Broussard had 8 points to go with 6 rebounds, Ava Johnson 4 points, 3 steals, Bayler Smith took 2 charges, scored 3 points and snagged 6 rebounds and 8 steals.

The Montague boys “B” team hosted the Nocona Indians “B” team. The Eagles were able to outscore the Indians in every quarter of the game on their way to a 25-13 win. The leading scorer for Montague was Cooper Johnson with 7 points. Other scorers were Jase West with 6, Josiah Messer with 5, Cooper Martin with 3, Brooks Gray with 2, and Lane Smith with 2.

The Montague boys basketball team was back in action seeking their 5th straight win to start the season. The game began with an offensive struggle for both teams as the defenses stepped up and the first quarter ended with Eagles leading the game by a score of 6-4. However in the second quarter, the Eagles turned on the switch offensively and  went on a 17-5 run to end the first half with a score of Montague 23, Falcons 9. In the second half, the Eagles outscored the Falcons 14-6 on their way to victory by a final score of 37-15. The leading scorers for the Eagles were Caden Belcher with 15 points and Karson Kleinhans with 14. Other scorers were Brady Moore with 6 points and Hunter Parr with 2. The win improves the Eagles’ record to 5-0 for the season.

Montague will host Prairie Valley at home after the Christmas break on Thursday, January 6th with teacher appreciation night beginning at 5:45 PM.
