8th Grade Parent Night

The Montague Lady Eagles beat Gold-Burg Monday night 40-7 to finish up their undefeated season 9-0. Outstanding stats: Kaygan Stone had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals; Aubree Kleinhans had 12 points and 4 steals; Brylie Hager 5 points including an exciting buzzer beater 3; Bayler Smith 5 points  and 7 steals; Railey Martin 2 points, 4 rebounds; Lillie Smith 2 points.

The boy’s team pulled out a win against the Bears as well by a score of 25-22. Points were hard to come by in the matchup as the defensive effort showed up strong for both teams. The Eagles led narrowly by a score of 15-13 at the half. In the second half, the Eagles’ great defense continued and just got better as the game went on, allowing only 5 points in the third quarter and just 4 in the fourth. A big 3 late in the game by Brady Moore helped to seal the Montague win. The leading scorer for the Eagles was Caden Belcher with 10 points. Other scorers were Brady Moore with 8, Karson Kleinhans with 5, and Kasch Johnson with 2. The Eagles ended the year with an 8-1 record finishing 2nd in district behind Slidell. 

Montague honored their 8th graders and parents before the girl's game as this was their last game of the year.

Maloree Woodyard is the daughter of Darci and Jason Woodyard of Nocona. Maloree has been at Montague since the 7h grade and plans on attending Prairie Valley High School. She has played volleyball and basketball for 2 years.

Railey Martin is the daughter of Sue Martin of Bowie. Railey has been at MISD since the 3rd grade and plans on attending Bowie HS. She has played volleyball for 3 years, track for 2 years, was a cheerleader for 2 years and cross country for 1 year. Railey was also the volleyball manager in the 5th grade.

Kaygan Stone is the daughter of Hayden and Chelsi Stone of Nocona. Kaygan has been at Montague since the 5th grade and plans to attend Nocona HS. Kaygan has played basketball and volleyball for all 3 years and track, cross country and cheerleading for 2 years and will participate in tennis this year. Kaygan was also the volleyball manager in 5th grade.

Lillie Smith is the daughter of Jessica Smith of Montague. Lillie has been at MISD for 10 years and will attend Gold-Burg High School. She has played volleyball and basketball all 3 years, track and cross country for 2 years and tennis for 1 year.

Kasch Johnson is the son of Jamie Johnson of Bowie and Lance Johnson of Forestburg. Kasch has been at MISD since the 2nd grade and will attend Nocona HS. He has participated in basketball and football for 2 years.

This group of girls had an amazing run while at Montague.  In basketball they have only lost 3 district games in 3 years for a total record of 38-3. They have won 2 Montague Tournaments and 2 1st State Bank Tournaments. In volleyball they have a total record of 40-5 and never lost a district game in volleyball for a total district record of 22-0. They have won 1 Windthorst Tournament and 1 Jerry Allen Wichita Falls Memorial Tournament and 1 runner up in the Bowie Tournament. 

On the boy’s side, for the last 2 years Kasch has been a part of a football team that has went 8-6 including an undefeated 6-0 season last year. In basketball Kasch and teammates have only lost 1 game in 2 years for a record of 23-1 including an undefeated 15-0 season last year. They won the Montague Tournament last year and the 1st State Bank Tournament.
