Montague’s Pre-K and Kindergarten had a fantastic day on Monday, February 1, the 100th day of school. They wrote a book discussing the things that their teacher and parents say 100 times. Maci McWilliams said her dad tells her 100 times to “Get Sally a dog biscuit.” Cooper Gamblin said he tells his dad 100 times,” Can I ride my dirt bike?” Cade Thompson’s mom tells him to “Pick up your room.” Taygon Jones said she could eat 100 strawberries. Jack Contreras said if he had $100, he would buy a football. Amereta Davidson said if she had $100, she would buy ice cream, a balloon, and candy. Jaden Kittrell said she would buy a Nintendo if she had $100.
The two classes did 100 exercises, danced 100 seconds, and ate 100 snacks. Later they made necklaces with 100 fruit loops, played Pin the 1 on the 100, and made bright glittery crowns that were worn to lunch. The students also took a 100-step walk from the classroom which took them to the far side of the gym.
Each student brought a collection of 100 things with three clues about their collection. The class made predictions about what that collection was. Popping 100 balloons was probably the highlight of the day.
We read the 100th Day Worries by Marjorie Cuyler and 100 Hungry Ants by Elinor J. Pinczes.
If it hadn’t been for a fantastic group of parents, we wouldn’t have been able to do half of what the students were able to do in one day. Thanks so very much to all who donated their time to making our celebration a huge success!!!!!
