Montague Junior High's 6th, 7th and 8th grade students competed in the district One Act Play competition on January 12 at Saint Jo ISD Auditorium.    This was only the second time in school history to have an ensemble participate in the UIL sanctioned event.
The play performed was THE TEREZIN PROMISE by Celeste Raspanti.    The story is of the liberation of the Terezin concentration camp in 1945.   “The Nazis are in retreat, desperate to destroy evidences of their crimes (files as well as human).   Raja Englanderova remains to keep a promise she made to their teacher, Irena: she will not leave without the drawings and poems of the Terezin children.   She convinces her friends and Hanus, the leader of the boys group, that they must find the buried bundles and hidden suitcases before the Nazis destroy the camp and them with it.”
“The students did an outstanding job of understanding and portraying the youth that suffered through the imprisonment and harsh conditions of the Holocaust.  I am extremely proud of the tremendous effort each person put into their part – cast and crew- for our show.” stated Candy Bouldin, director.
Several students were awarded honors for the character they portrayed:   All Star Cast:  Tiffany Osbourn and Ashley Smith;   Honorable Mention All Star Cast:  CJ Hamilton and William Mendez.
