First of all, I need to tell you how much I enjoy teaching your children. They are a delight. Thank you for all of your support and hard work that you put in a home.
READING
Please continue to read with your child every night. The reading log in the homework folder should be signed every night, even if your child reads alone. The concepts and rules in reading are getting harder. Here is a list of what your child should know and should keep practicing:
Vowel-consonant-silent e (ex.- dime, cake, these, hose)
diagraph sounds ch, sh, th, wh, ai, ay, ow, ea, oo, ee
sight words - who, where, are, from, you, they, want, when, like, and all others that are on the daily phonics homework.
fluency- being able to keep at a consistant pace
combination sounds ar, er, ir, or, ur
coding
MATH
In math, we are learning about measurement such as length, weight, and volume.
SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES
In Science, we will be learning about the earth - water, soil, and rocks.
In Social Studies we will be studying Martin Luther King Jr. and the presidents.
