Girls Win, Boys Lose Heartbreaker
January 20, 2012
The Montague Lady Eagles pulled down yet another great defensive victory against Slidell winning 51-23. The girls played awesome and played very aggressive man defense against a very quick Slidell team and forced several turnovers which led to lots of fast-breaks and lay-ups. "Once again our defense was the key to our win," says Coach Cromleigh, "We hustled and shot the ball well as a team throughout the game. I'm so excited about this win for the girls, they earned it!" Scoring: Paighton Gardner 17 points, Yvonne Croxton 15, Taylor Thompson 11, Angel Rhudy 5 and Chloey Hamilton 3.
A short handed Montague boy's team put out a very valiant effort against Slidell's 8th grade team. The Eagles played with only 5 players the entire game and came up just short 43-39. Montague was without the services of three key players: Preston Cunningham, Brendan Ramsey and Dakota Inmon. The Eagles led 19-18 at the half but were outscored 10-6 in the 3rd quarter. Keck Jones scored 6, Brenton Vineyard 16, Austin Uselton 2 and Anthony Rios 15. Uselton and Rios did an outstanding job rebounding.
