St. Jo Takes Home Both Titles

Montague hosted its annual 59th year basketball tournament last weekend. In the girl's division St. Jo took home 1st place, Montague 2nd, Henrietta 8th grade 3rd and Henrietta 7th grade 4th. Montague beat Henrietta 7th 49-5. Josie Contreras and McKenzie Simpson scored 12 a piece, Tiffany Osbourn and CJ Hamilton scored 10 each, Bailey Croxton had 3 and Catherine Tracey 2. Montague also beat Henrietta's 8th grade team 39-18. CJ Hamilton scored 22 points, Croxton had 7, Contreras 6 and Osbourn 4. Montague was then defeated by St. Jo 34-22. Hamilton had 15, Contreras 5 and Croxton 2.
In boy's action, St. Jo also took home the 1st place title followed by Bowie 7th B 2nd, Montague 3rd and Henrietta 8th 4th. Montague beat Henrietta's 8th team 35-26. Ty Debord scored 19 points, Mitchell Eldred 6, Tristan Parr 5, Joe Frerichs 4 and DJ Smith chipped in 1. Montague was then defeated by Bowie 26-12. Eldred had 4 points, Debord and Parr had 3 each and Colton Tipton had 2. Montague was also defeated by St. Jo 27-15. Eldred was high scorer with 5 points, Parr and Smith had 4 each and Debord had 2.
A big thank you goes out to all the teams and fans for showing good sportsmanship. We hope everyone enjoyed the tournament and we look forward to hosting our 60th annual tournament next year.
